GeoSAS partners with a number of public and private organizations in the application of GIS and Remote Sensing for diverse socio economic fields related to sustainable rural development, environmental protection and health care delivery. In this regard, GeoSAS has some ongoing and completed projects jointly implemented with several local and international institutions and the following are some that GeoSAS has partnered with;
| INFOTERRA |
Infoterra Ltd,located in – UK is one of the world leading geo-information companies, formed from NRSC Ltd and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Autrium Services, with over 27 years of experience in commercial earth observation. It provides a complete range of geographic information services to both public and private sector organizations within a global client base. This includes provision of geo-spatial data other GIS related products offering an extensive range of value-added services. GeoSAS is currently working with Infoterra in a project called GARNET-E funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Program of the European Commission. GARNET- E is a consortium of seventeen countries drawn from Africa and Europe. The main objective of GARNET-E is to create a network of networks between information providers, users networks and center of excellences in Europe and African countries in the use of earth observation data for risk and poverty reduction and more directed to building real wealth creation in Africa.Go to official website of Infoterra Ltd. |
| Global Monitoring for Food Security (GMFS |
GMFS aims by concerting efforts to bring data and information providers together, in order to assist stakeholders, nations and international organizations to better implement their policies towards sustainable development. In particular, GMFS aims at contributing to improved food security in the African continent by providing additional remote sensing based information to organizations at the national, regional and international level. It provides four different types of services which are: (i) Early Warning Activities, (ii) Agricultural mapping; (iii) Crop yield assessments and (iv) support to FAO/WFP Crop and Food Supply Assessment Missions (CFSAM). These services take place at the continental level, mainly targeting ‘international’ users such as the EC JRC, FAO/GIEWS and WFP/VAM, at the regional level with users such as the RCMRD in Kenya, the AGRHYMET centre in CILSS and the SADC-RRSU in Botswana and at national level focusing at 6 countries, Senegal, Sudan, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. |

Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD)is located in Nairobi Kenya. The regional Centre is an intergovernmental organization established in 1975 under the auspices of UN-ECA, in which Ethiopia is a member country.
