| 1. Disaster Risk Management and Food Security |
Experts at GeoSAS have extensive experiance in research and application in areas of hazard mapping and vulnerability analysis and early warning system.They have been heavily involved in Ethiopia historical hazard mapping and baseline livlihoods profile development,in the drafting process of Ethiopian disaster risk management policy,assessing food security at different levels, reviewing and evaluating early warning system in the country. Working with governmental and non-governmental institutions on early warning system, they have an excellent working relationship with IGAD, its member states and other countries in Eastern andSouthern Africa region. |

| 2. Ecosystem and climate change |
GeoSAS's professional team has extensive experience in developing projects related to environment protection, climate change and adaptation at local and international levels. The team also prepares concept papers, proposals and strategy plans to assist decision makers to open dialogues and catalyze action to address the impact of climatic change on socioeconomic development, promoting international cooperation in the field of the climate change and recommending appropriate policies.

| 3. Agriculture and Rural Development |
Agriculture, rural development and agricultural marketing are also another area where GeoSAS is working to provide consultancy services. Food security problem can possibly associated with production failure or inefficiency of agricultural marketing systems or some other factors. If markets are poorly connected it will also have an impact in affecting the livelihood of the market dependent people.

GeoSAS works around the application of GIS and RS technology in the following areas: town mapping and planning, agriculture, health, food security and early warning, vulnerability and hazard mapping, natural resources management etc. GeoSAS also has the expertise in using information technology in disaster assessment, emergency response monitoring and impact assessment, market information assessment, emergency nutrition surveys and surveillance, livelihoods based household economic surveys as well as training on integrated phase classification and GIS and remote sensing (RS) application for disaster risk management. |
